Milton Caniff
Milton Arthur Paul "Milt" Caniff (born in Hillsboro, OH, February 28, 1907 – April 3, 1988) was an American cartoonist famous for the Terry and the Pirates and Steve Canyon comic strips. He was one of the founders of the National Cartoonists Society and notably has received multiple major industry awards including Eisner Hall of Fame Award, National Cartoonists Society Elzie Segar Award, the Award for Story Comic Strip, the National Cartoonists Society Gold Key Award (since named the Milton Caniff Lifetime Achievement Award in his honor), was made the first honorary member of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society, and in 1977, the Milton Caniff Collection of papers and original art became the foundation for what is presently the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum at Ohio State University.
